Real Madrid and Manchester City played to an entertaining 3-3 draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. Phil Foden scored twice for the visitors, while Karim Benzema and Vinícius Júnior each scored for the hosts.
City took an early lead through Foden, who finished off a sweeping move involving Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland in the second minute. Benzema equalized for Madrid in the 33rd minute, tapping in a cross from Vinícius Júnior.
Madrid took the lead for the first time in the 55th minute when Vinícius Júnior curled a shot into the bottom corner. Foden equalized again for City in the 59th minute, finishing off a cross from Riyad Mahrez.
Both teams had chances to win the match in the closing stages, but neither could find a winning goal. The second leg of the tie will be played at the Etihad Stadium on May 4.
