Brandon Pfaadt bounces back, helps Arizona top Milwaukee
Wildcats improve to 10-5 overall with 8-2 mark in Pac-12 play
Brandon Pfaadt gave up his first earned run in 24 1/3 innings, but it didn't stop No. 21 Arizona from continuing its dominance over Milwaukee on Friday night.
Pfaadt (4-1) allowed one run on four hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings as the Wildcats beat the Panthers 6-1 at Hi Corbett Field.
It was Pfaadt's first start since throwing a no-hitter against Gonzaga on March 11. The right-hander retired the first 10 batters he faced before giving up a leadoff single to Luke Seidel in the fourth inning.
Pfaadt settles down after shaky start
Seidel eventually scored on a groundout by Ethan Ratliff to give Milwaukee a 1-0 lead, but Pfaadt settled down and retired the next eight batters he faced.
Arizona tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Tanner O'Tremba, and the Wildcats took the lead for good in the sixth when Tony Bullard hit a two-run single.
Bullard finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and O'Tremba was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Pfaadt struck out seven batters and walked two.
Arizona continues dominance over Milwaukee
The Wildcats have now won 10 of their last 11 games against Milwaukee, including the last three meetings at Hi Corbett Field.
Arizona will face Milwaukee again on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Hi Corbett Field.
