Guardiola: Man City should be presumed innocent
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that his club should be presumed innocent until proven guilty of financial wrongdoing.
The Premier League champions are being investigated by the league over alleged breaches of financial rules. City could face a range of punishments, including a points deduction or even relegation, if found guilty.
Guardiola, speaking at a press conference on Friday, said that he was confident that City would be cleared of any wrongdoing.
"We are innocent until proven guilty," he said. "We have nothing to hide. We are going to cooperate with the Premier League and we are going to prove that we are innocent."
City have been accused of breaking a number of financial rules, including failing to provide accurate financial information to the Premier League and UEFA, and failing to cooperate with UEFA's investigation into the club's finances.
The club has denied all wrongdoing and has said that it will cooperate with the Premier League's investigation.
The Premier League's investigation is ongoing and it is not clear when it will be completed.
